'Just like people, dogs are individuals. They have their own personalities and preferences. As a species, they have an instinctive compulsion to gather with other members of their own species’.
At The Cav Club, we believe that pets are members of the family and deserve the same level of care and attention as our own dogs. We treat every pet in our care with love, respect, and compassion.
There are NO kennels here, your Cavalier will live with our family in our loving home. With Emma being at home full time and Ian working school hours and our two older children at home after college, your dog will never be alone.
We exclusively home board Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Cavalier crosses and small to medium breeds depending on their temperament and we only board a maximum of five dogs which includes our own three resident dogs. We offer short and long-term home boarding for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. As experienced Cav owners, we know that they are a special breed, and like to spend time with each other and humans.
Our aim is to take Cavaliers in our home, which means they will always share space with dogs of their own size and temperament and it means we can all fit on the sofa for cuddles too! We are four star rated by Cheshire West and Chester Council which is the highest we can currently achieve and we strive to maintain this by ensuring the welfare of your pet throughout their stay from their enrichment to their food, exercise to their sleep.
Emma and Ian hold enhanced DBS checks which are held on the update service and we are insured up to one million for public liability and to hold keys. Emma is also qualified in First Aid, Ofqual Level 2 Canine Care and Welfare and is currently studying Level 3 Canine Care, Behaviour and Welfare (RQF) so you can feel assured that your dog(s) will be in safe hands.
Emma also completes pet sits and visits within your own home for any other breed of dog and for cats while you are away for dates when we are not boarding or should you prefer to keep your dog at home.

We have lovely dogs who return to us throughout the year, their humans tend to check our availability prior to booking their own holidays.
Our home is your dog’s home for the time they are here. They have the run of the house including the sofa and the garden which is plant safe and totally secure with seven-foot-high fencing and secure locked gates. We have a doggy door which they can use if they want to which is also secure. In the garden they can play with the agility equipment and balls and there are plenty of toys for your dog to play with although we do ask that you bring toys for your dog to aid them to settle in.
They will have at least two walks a day, unless otherwise specified by you and treats the same as you would do without breaking anything in their daily routine.
There are three Cavalier Club residents, Chloe who is 8 years old and Matilda who is 2 years old and Betsy who is 3 months old at the time of writing! We also have a cat, Fishbone, who is 8 years old and is definitely part of the pack as he likes to come on walks with us too! We do ask that your dog would need to be cat savvy however as poor Fishbone can only keep running for so long!
You will receive regular updates from us while you are away; including beautiful photos, videos and messages on how your dog is getting on via WhatsApp or e-mail. We do not share any photos or videos publicly without your consent.
Every dog who boards with us has to have completed a successful sleepover previously. We have found this to be very successful. It's a great opportunity to ensure that your dog is suited to our home boarding environment and also eases them into being without you, making their longer stay with us far less stressful. It is vital that you understand that sleepovers are a dry run to see how your dog copes in our home environment. You MUST be available should your dog not be coping and needs to go home.
New dogs are NEVER booked in prior to a successful sleepover! It is vital that you are aware of this, please only consider your dog booked in after a successful sleepover and the 50% non-refundable deposit has been paid.
Because of this we are unable to accommodate last minute enquiries for dogs we have never met, new enquirers must allow enough time to meet and establish a bond if required, prior to an attempt at a sleepover.
An up-to-date vaccination card must accompany all dogs. We ask that all dogs be vaccinated against canine parvovirus, canine distemper, infectious canine hepatitis (adenovirus) and leptospirosis. We also ask that dogs are vaccinated against canine parainfluenza virus and kennel cough. Happy to chat further about this and your specific requirements.

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book your dog's stay with us, the remaining 50% is required prior to your dog's arrival. Please always get in touch with us before paying your deposit to ensure availability.

Long before anything is booked, we ask that you and your dog(s) come to meet us in our home environment. This is a very relaxed meeting, normally only half an hour. It's a chance for you and your dog(s) to see where they might be staying, meet our family including our resident dogs Chloe, Matilda and Betsy and the resident cat Fishbone. At this point we can asses how to best proceed with your dog's
individual needs in mind. We are confident with providing medication to any dogs who have specific needs or any specific dietary foods during their stay. Please provide information on our booking form regarding their specific needs.
It can be stressful to board your pet. If you have any questions or concerns about how we make your pet's home away from home, please reach out. We will get back to you soon!
